The army in Congo-Brazzaville, a country in central Africa, announced last week that it was recruiting 1,500 people between the ages of 18 and 25.
According to Anatole Collinet Makosso, the” tragedy” resulted in 37 fatalities and an unknown number of injuries.
A statement was added,” A crisis unit has been established under the prime minister’s authority.”
The Michel d’Ornano stadium in the center of Brazzaville was where prospective recruits were instructed to go.
Locals claim that when the stampede started on Monday night, there were still a lot of people in the stadium.
Residents claimed that some people had attempted to force their way through gates, trampling many of them in the process.
The event’s specifics are still unclear, and AFP was unable to independently confirm them.
