Due to the severe storm that wrecked a lot of things over the long weekend of Heritage Day, about 39 roads in the Western Cape are still inaccessible.

Due to flooding, mudslides, rockfalls, downed trees, damage to buildings and infrastructure, and service disruption, the intense rainfall caused significant damage.

Alan Winde, the premier of Western Cape, gave a brief update on the province’s major roads’ condition and ongoing clean-up efforts.

He said that while some road closures had stop-and-go systems in place, others were completely closed.

Winde emphasized that the problem of road damage could not be resolved quickly and easily. He suggested that it’s crucial to make sure that ongoing road repairs can withstand future extreme weather conditions.
