Durban cop killed in Pavilion Mall jewellery heist, pregnant woman among injured

A pregnant woman was injured in the jewelry theft at Pavilion Mall, killing a Durban police officer.

DURBAN- On Sunday night, a police officer was shot and killed at the Pavilion Mall in Durban’s Westville neighborhood.

Unknown suspects attacked two jewelry stores.

When the policeman was fatally shot just outside the mall, it was assumed that he was defending the alleged criminals.

Police tape was used to cordone off all roads leading up to the mall, and officers stopped traffic.

According to paramedic spokesman Garrith Jamieson, the officer passed away as soon as he arrived at the hospital.” A police officer had been shot and was in critical condition. Unfortunately, he passed away shortly after due to his injuries.

Paramedics discovered two active crime scenes when they arrived, Jamieson continued. Two women who were assaulted during the alleged robbery were treated and transported by advanced life support paramedics, one of whom was pregnant.

The incident has not yet received any comment from the police.
