At the 72nd edition of the pageant, which was held in El Salvador this year, Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua was named Miss Universe 2023.

The crown and sash were given to Palacios, 23, by American R’Bonney Gabriel.

With Anntonia Porsild of Thailand and Moraya Wilson of Australia rounding out the top three, this is the first time a contestant from Nicaragua has won the competition.

Palacios, who claimed to value modesty and gratitude for small victories, emerged from 84 competitors who took part in a week-long competition that included photo-taking in traditional attire like swimsuits and evening gowns.

Palacios emphasized the value of equal pay for all women so that they can “work in any area” in her final response to the jury.

She declared,” There is no upper limit for women.”

The newly renovated Adolfo Pineda National Gymnasium in San Salvador’s capital served as a stage for each participant as they paraded.

Nayib Bukele, the president of El Salvador, attended the gala’s organizers, who also revealed that Mexico would host the next edition.
