DURBAN- A cash-in-transit ( CIT ) heist in KwaZulu-Natal has resulted in the arrest of one person.
Three cash van attacks occurred in the province over the course of the week, with KwaMashu, north of Durban, hosting the most recent attack.
Four suspects were killed by police in Durban on Friday in connection with a shootout that involved the bombing of cash vehicles.
Police are looking for 15 suspects in the cash-in-transit heist in Durban.
Two of the four suspects in cash-in-transit robberies were killed in a shootout from Limpopo-Saps.
Police are working to stop cash-in-transit robberies in SA-Masemola.
One suspect, according to police minister Bheki Cele, is already incarcerated.
On Friday night, he was speaking to reporters outside of Operation Shanela in KZN.
” Another person who appears to be connected to both the heists that occurred here in iNanda Drive and the south coast at Folweni was arrested down south, at Highflats.”
The minister listed some of the items they discovered on the suspect, including explosives, cash, and firearms.
Cele added that he thought the organization behind these heights was active all over the country.
