OLIFANTSVLEI- During a cleansing ceremony on Saturday, the family of one of the victims washed away in the Klip River.
As the river current began to pick up on Monday afternoon, Johannesburg Emergency Services halted rescue efforts.
The family wants authorities to start an investigation into the incident’s circumstances even though search efforts will continue on Tuesday morning.
The 18-year-old’s mother admitted to accepting the possibility of not finding her daughter alive to Eyewitness News.
She claimed that her family was in shock and looking for solutions as a result of the tragedy.
” I’m experiencing an indescribable amount of pain.” We need the man in charge of the cleansing ceremony to explain what happened that evening. The only person who can help the police with upcoming investigations is him.
Families of the two, who are thought to be dead, watched Monday’s recovery process anxiously in the hopes of finding their loved ones.
On Tuesday, according to Joburg EMS, the search will be continued by their teams.
