Six suspects who shot and killed a pastor on Friday night in Johannesburg are on the run, according to JOHANNESBURG police.

A group of armed men stormed the church and started firing, killing Pastor Dwayne Gordon and injuring three other attendees who had been invited as guest preachers at Eagles Christian Centre in Newlands.

On social media, a live stream of the dramatic event circulated. On the church’s social media, his sermon was being live-streamed.

Gordon’s parting remarks to the congregation included,” Thank you so much Mervyn for letting me stand on your platform and allow me to minister.”

The congregation was then attacked by a group of six suspects who opened fire on the church, killing Gordon and injuring three other people.

A murder case and two counts of attempted murder are being looked into, according to police spokesman Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi.

Three people were hurt when the suspects fired shots. The church pastor was named as one of the victims who died as a result of his injuries. Before leaving the scene, the suspects stole cellphones and other items from people, according to Nevhuhulwi.

The perpetrators are currently being sought after by police.
