Sibusiso Mbatha, a 12-year-old student at Khehlekile Primary School, passed away after an investigation into his death revealed that the school did not adhere to the rules when he reported committing bullying.

Early on Thursday, the Gauteng Education Department released a report and its recommendations at the school.

Last month, Mbatha committed suicide at his family’s house.

Additionally, he left his mother a WhatsApp message claiming that bullying was the cause of his choice.

While Mbatha informed the school’s deputy principal of the incident, according to Rathanga Attorneys, the law firm hired to look into it, there was no record of it.

The complaints that the deputy principal sparked and contributed to the incident itself have merit and substance. I should also point out that, according to attorney Baitseng Rathanga, there was no post-care after the incident in terms of the child’s release from school to home.
