Mahlathi Primary in Bushbuckridge has been named the province’s cleanest school in 2023 by the Mpumalanga Department of Education( DoE ). On September 22, 2023, the Floreat Riverside Lodge in Sabie hosted the Cleanest School Awards Ceremony.
Schools are inspired to consistently prioritize cleanliness by the Cleanest School Awards. These honors are a part of the Rhandza Xikolo-Xa-Wena Campaign for 2023.

Communities are encouraged to band together to clean and maintain their schools as part of this yearly campaign. By encouraging communities to own and protect their respective institutions, it aims to address the majority of the negative challenges faced at schools. It promotes a sense of community ownership of schools, fosters pride in both students and the community, and raises the standard of instruction. It also encourages clean and secure learning environments.
Tsembaletfu Primary School in the Ehlanzeni District, Sibahle Primary Schools in Gert Sibande, and Loding Primary schools in Nkangala were the other finalists.

A” clean learning environment” encourages positive learning experiences and fosters an environment that is both safe and healthy for both students and staff. Cleanliness improves air quality, lessens allergens, and promotes overall well-being in addition to preventing the spread of diseases and germs. According to Jasper Zwane, the DoE’s spokesperson, schools that prioritize cleanliness are aware that it is related to student attendance, focus, and performance.
Mahlathi Primary received his congratulations. The best of the best, you are. A trophy, a certificate, and other awards are given to the school. The Cleanest School Award from the previous year went to Follinhlanhla Primary School in Shabalala, outside of Hazyview.
