After the robbers detained employees and customers at two jewelry stores that evening, the KZN SAPS reports this.
According to spokesperson Robert Netshiunda, four of the criminals soon followed the first one who pretended to be a customer as they entered the store.

They stole an undisclosed amount of jewelry and outnumbered the staff.
” At the same time, that gang of suspects broke into a jewelry store and stole an unspecified amount of gold jewelry.”
” The suspects encountered a police vehicle as they were leaving the mall and began firing shots at an officer, who later died from gunshot injuries.”
The theft of two security guards ‘ firearms by suspects was later proven. Two vehicles—a bakkie and a silver Toyota Etios—were used by the suspects to flee the scene.
