Gwede Mantashe, the chairperson of the African National Congress( ANC ), will preside over the party’s review of its 2019 manifesto on Saturday in Mdantsane at the Sisa Dukaste Stadium.
The party’s preparations for the upcoming 2024 elections depend heavily on this review.
Cyril Ramaphosa, the president of the ANC, will be replaced by Mantashe as the program’s new leader.
Given the mandate the ANC received in the 2019 general elections, it has emphasized that this review is all about holding the people accountable.
This, according to the ruling party, is also done to track developments over the previous four years.
Notably, poverty, underdevelopment, poor governance, and corruption are just a few of the problems the Eastern Cape is currently dealing with. The ANC has kept a steady majority despite these problems.
Later in the day, Mantashe is anticipated to provide his address.
Sihle Zikalala, a member of the National Executive Committee( NEC ), is anticipated to oversee the Joe Gqabi District’s other manifesto review programs in addition to this one.
