Nyati: Generation recovery one of key focus areas for new Eskom CEO Dan Marokane

Nyati: Dan Marokane, the new CEO of Eskom, places a lot of emphasis on generation recovery.

Mteto Nyati, the chairman of the board of directors of JOHANNESBURG-Eskom, stated that three areas were of particular importance for the newly appointed CEO Dan Marokane to address as soon as he took office.

In 2023, the former CEO Andre de Ruyter announced his resignation.

Pravin Gordhan, the minister of public enterprises, announced on Friday that Marokane had been chosen to succeed him after months of searching for a replacement. His appointment is scheduled to begin before the end of March 2024.

Generation recovery is one of the “key” areas that Marokane is expected to concentrate on as CEO, according to Nyati.

” Management and I have created a recovery generation plan.” It’s a 24-month schedule. That plan is being carried out. We need a person who can speed up the recovery process.

Additionally, he emphasized accountability and the division of Eskom into three entities.

Another top priority for this leader will be the restructuring. The final one might be to ensure that we promote an accountability-based culture and a firm approach to corruption within Eskom.
