To address two zero-day security flaws, Apple today pushed updates to the iOS, iPadOS, and macOS software. The business claimed that the bugs were actively dispersed throughout the wild. In its security reports, Apple stated that it is aware of a report that suggests this bug may have been used against iOS versions prior to iOS 16.7.1. For the iPhone, iPad, and Mac, software updates that close the gaps are now available.

Both exploits were discovered and reported by Google’s Threat Analysis Group ( TAG ) researcher Clément Lecigne. The Google TAG team frequently discovers and exposes zero-day bugs against high-risk individuals, such as politicians, journalists, and dissidents, as Bleeping Computer points out. Apple omitted to provide information regarding the specifics of any flaw-based attacks.

WebKit, Apple’s open-source browser framework that powers Safari, was harmed by the two security flaws. Processing web content may reveal sensitive information, according to Apple’s description of the first bug. ” Processing web content may result in arbitrary code execution,” it said in the second.

The “iPhone XS and later, iPad Pro 12.9-inch 2nd generation, Later, IPad Pro 1. 5 inch 1st generation and Later,” iPad Air 3rd generation et al.; iPad 6th generation in later years; and iPad Mini in Later Years;” are all covered by the security patches.

There’s no need to panic because neither of these has a very good chance of affecting your devices, but it would be wise to update your Apple gear right away just to be safe. By going to Settings > General > Software Update and tapping the start button, you can update your iPhone or iPad right away. Go to System Settings > General > Software Update on a Mac and repeat the process. Today’s updates to iOS 17.1.2, iPadOS 17.1.1, and macOS Sonoma 14.1.2 were released by Apple.
