JOHANNESBURG- According to the Electoral Commission ( IEC ), there have been more than 500 000 new registered voters, bringing the total number of voters to 26.8 million.

The commission gave the country a report on the results of the weekend’s first voter registration drive.

In order to register and update their information in advance of the general elections the following year, citizens from all over the nation showed up in large numbers.

The commission’s first voter registration drive, according to chief electoral officer Sy Mamabolo, was successful.

There were 568, 000 eligible voters who registered for the first time. 19.57 % of all registration activity is related to this. There were 1.4 million voters who reregistered in the same voting district, and 929, 000 voters—those who were changing their address items—were registered in different voting districts.
