DURBAN: According to the KwaZulu-Natal Education Department, an alleged assault on a female student in Empangeni was being looked into.
After a video clip in which the learner discusses the assault went viral, the situation was made public.
She claims in the clip that she initially experienced bullying before the male learner allegedly beat her up, which made the situation worse.
The student in the video experiences emotion as she recounts her experience.
She claimed that because of the alleged abuse she was experiencing, she even considered quitting school at one point.
Steps have been taken, according to the provincial Department of Education, which also claimed to have located the student accused of the assault.
She became very emotional during our interview, which prompted us to schedule a meeting with our own psychologist. According to Muzi Mahlambi, the alleged perpetrator’s case was also opened with our help.
Additionally, the department has urged locals to stay out of the situation.
