The top 10 crime hotspots in South Africa have been identified by statistics.

The top 10 crime hotspots in South Africa have been identified by recent statistics. Police Chief of Crime Research and Statistics Norman Sekhukhune has made his findings public.

Four of the top 10 police stations are in the Western Cape, which has surpassed all other locations.

With 3274 crimes reported in the second quarter of 2023, Cape Town Central police station was ranked first, according to Sekhukhune’s report, which was presented in Parliament on Friday.

In light of rising crime in tourist hotspots, the city should intensify safety measures.

2887 crimes were reported in the second quarter of 2022, an increase of 13.4 % from the previous year.

After Durban Central, Mitchells Plain comes in third.

2291 crimes were reported in Mitchells Plain between July and September of this year, according to Sekhukhune. Compared to last year’s 2119, this is an 8.1 % increase.

Additionally, there was an increase in crime in Stellenbosch, as this year’s reported number was 1847 as opposed to 1692. Additionally, Delft’s crime rate is rising, rising 16.8 % from the reported crimes from last year.
