Udogie receives the first call-up for the Euro qualifiers against Malta and England.

Destiny Udogie, a defender for Tottenham Hotspur, has joined Italy’s squad for the European Championship qualifiers against Malta and England on October 6( Reuters ). The Italian football federation( FIGC ) announced this on Friday.

After the 20-year-old started for Spurs in all seven of their Premier League games so far this season, Luciano Spalletti included the former Udinese left back in his second squad selection as Azzurri manager.

Lorenzo Pellegrini, a midfielder, was injured in Thursday’s Europa League matchup between AS Roma and Servette.

With a game remaining against all of their Group C rivals, Italy is in second place and trails England by six points. On October 14, they host bottom-side Malta in Bari before heading to Wembley three days later to face England.

Squad for Italy:

Gianluigi Donnarumma( Paris St. Germain ), Alex Meret( Napoli ), Ivan Provedel( Lazio ), and Guglielmo Vicario( Tottenham Hotspur ) are the goalkeepers.

Defenders: Gianluca Mancini( AS Roma ), Giorgio Scalvini( Atalanta ), Destiny Udogie( Tottenham ), Francesco Acerbi, Cristiano Biraghi( both Inter Milan ), Matteo Darmian( Inter ), Giovanni Di Lorenzo( Napoli ).

Bryan Cristante( Roma ), Davide Frattesi( Inter ), Manuel Locatelli( Juventus ), Sandro Tonali( Newcastle United ), and Nicolo Barella( inter ), Giacomo Bonaventura( Fiorentina ).

Attackers include Mattia Zaccagni( Lazio ), Nicolo Zaniolo( Aston Villa ), Giacomo Raspadori( Napoli ), Federico Chiesa( Juventus ), and Domenico Berardi.
